¿Cuándo empezaste con Lola's y por qué?
Empezé Lola's en 2017 porque ya había estado haciendo videos de skate por un tiempo y quería un motivo mayor detrás de esto. No solo subirlo a youtube y ya esta, sino que quería más un proyecto serio.
When did you start Lola's and why?
I started Lolas in 2017 because I had been making skate videos for a while and wanted a bigger reason behind it. Not just uploading to youtube and then finished, but wanted more of a project.
¿De dónde viene el nombre?
Lola es un nombre lindo y sexy al mismo tiempo, algo así como Lola Bunny (la novia de Bugs Bunny).
Where does the name come from?
Lola is a cute and sexy name at the same time, kind of like Lola Bunny (Bugs Bunny's girlfriend).
Como australiano que vive en Japón, ¿cómo es llevar tu propio negocio?
Hay cierta cortesía y etiqueta que he ido aprendido sobre la marcha. Manejándolo y aprendiendo día a día con mucha ayuda de mentores mayores. ¡Me ha llevado mucho tiempo!
As an Australian living in Japan, how can you handle running your own business?
Theres some politeness and etiquette that I have learned about. Handling it I learn day by day with a lot of help from older mentors. A lot of timing!
¿Es el idioma/cultura una barrera para tí?
Realmente no si es para conversar porque puedo hablar japonés, pero no puedo leer Kanji (El alfabeto japonés más difícil) entonces siempre necesito traducir mensajes de texto simples y cosas así. Me gusta la cultura, así que no es una barrera para mí, la cultura tiene mucho amor por las cosas específicas, lo cual mola.
Is the language/culture a barrier for you?
Not really for conversation because I can speak Japanese, but I can't read Kanji (the harder Japanese alphabet) so I always need to translate simple text messages and things like that. I like the culture so it's not a barrier for me, the culture has a lot of love for niche things which is cool.
¿Cuál es tu principal inspiración detrás de Lola's?
Para los gráficos, muchos personajes y cosas que son lindas pero también un poco oscuras al mismo tiempo. Muchas cosas me inspiran al caminar por la ciudad, o ideas y gráficos de amigos que tengan características similares en estilos e intereses. La inspiración para hacer Lola's como marca es crear algo grandioso y capaz de marcar la historia!
What is your main inspiration behind Lola's?
For graphics, a lot of characters and things that are cute but also a little dark at the same time. Many things I notice when walking around, or ideas and graphics from friends that have similar styles and interests. Inspiration for doing Lolas as a brand, is to create something great and able to mark history!
¿Cómo es la escena del skate en Kobe?
Kobe es el tipo de ciudad en la que todo el mundo se reúnen en una zona del centro. La ciudad es compacta y no demasiado grande. Es fácil moverse en skate y simplemente ir de un lado a otro. No hay demasiados patinadores por eso mucha gente se conoce, incluida gente de otras subculturas como la música y el arte.
Creo que Kobe es bastante conocido en la escena del skate japonés por tener muchos spots.
How is the skate scene in Kobe?
Kobe is the type of city that everyone gathers in one city centre area. So it is compact and not too big. Easy to move around on a skateboard and just push spot to spot. Not too many skaters, so a lot of people know each other, including people in other subcultures like music and art. I think Kobe is quite known in the Japanese skate scene for having a lot of spots.
